Privacy Policy
Scenarist does not collect your personal data. This page explains what that means in practice.
The short version
There is no Scenarist account and no Scenarist server. Your scripts are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are stored in your own private iCloud database, which Apple controls access to and which the developer cannot read.
No analytics service, advertising network, or third-party SDK is included in the app.
What the app stores, and where
Your scripts and settings
Screenplays, title pages, notes, bookmarks, markers, revisions, and app preferences are written to local storage on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled in Settings, this content is also written to the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. The developer has no access to that database.
Usage counters
The app keeps a small local record of in-app events, such as how many times a script was exported, to help diagnose problems. These counters never leave your device and are erased when you delete the app.
Voice dictation
Dictation uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed on your iPhone and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted by the app. Dictation works with no network connection.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the Lifetime unlock are processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple and are never visible to the developer. The app receives only a signed receipt confirming whether an entitlement is active.
Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Notifications and files you share
Optional writing reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No notification content is sent through a server.
When you export a script, the resulting PDF, .fdx, .fountain, or text file is handed to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes next — Mail, Files, another app — is your choice, and that destination's own privacy policy applies from that point.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing held about you to access, correct, export, or delete. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. Scripts synced to iCloud can be removed in iOS Settings under your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage.
This applies equally under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act. Scenarist does not sell or share personal information, because it does not collect any.
Children
Scenarist is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Questions can be sent through Settings → Contact Support in the app.
